The MS Ranch is an example of pride in ownership and a long standing commitment to create an efficient, working cattle operation with outstanding improvements. This wellmanaged Central Oregon cattle ranch includes 5,152 contiguous deeded acres rich in hay meadows, pasture and pine timber. The ranch adjoins the Ochoco National Forest providing over 19,000 acres of summer grazing privileges and direct access to more than 800,000 acres of public forest lands. A diverse topography presents timbered ridges overlooking valleys with beautiful mountain streams. Easily accessible to the amenities in Bend, commercial flights into Redmond and services and supplies from Prineville, the MS Ranch offers a rare combination of a high quality life style and functional performance.
The headquarters include a heavy-duty, all-steel cattle facility designed by Temple Grandin and owner-built to guarantee decades of service. The pens, scales and loading chute are adjacent to the landmark MS Barn and accommodate the safe and efficient processing of cattle with generous year-round truck access. A 250 foot by 150 foot outdoor arena with a calf roping chute and return alley is located next to the processing facility and doubles as an additional holding pen.
Daily ranch business can be directed from a heated office/vet room located in a block building along with four open bays and an enclosed garage area facing the MS Barn. Behind the office, a 100 foot long steel sided building includes an insulated, 32 by 40 foot shop area and six, twelve by twenty four foot bays. Across the graveled yard is ample space to park equipment with power and water available to RV's.
A large craftsman style ranch house is situated at the entrance to the ranch. Currently occupied by the ranch manager, this home is in excellent condition and offers more than 4,400 square feet of comfort in a finished basement, main level and second story. This solid, four bedroom, two and a half bath home includes features necessary to ranch life such as a utility porch entry with a half bath accessed from an attached garage and the kitchen area. A full basement family room with a fireplace and wood heater in the main living room provide a cozy winter atmosphere and are backed up by an oil furnace. The second floor offers two enormous bedrooms and a three quarter bath.
A spectacular owner's home is privately situated above the ranch headquarters overlooking the valley. 4,000 square feet of living area radiates its quality construction and design and includes three bedrooms and three and a half baths. To accommodate every day life on the ranch, entry is through a tiled utility room where a washer and dryer can intercept a day's grime, and coats, hats and boots may be neatly parked. A large, sunlit office is easily accessed from the entry or from a bright, open kitchen centered between a warm family room and a breakfast nook. A formal dining area is open to a beautiful fireplace in a living room that greets visitors from the main entry. The master suite is on the main floor while the second and third bedrooms with two full baths are found on the second level. Virtually every room is exposed to natural light and breathtaking scenery. A two car garage with additional covered parking is connected by a breezeway to the home.
The owner's home pulls the outdoor scenery indoors. Private quest quarters are located across the driveway from the owner's home. Two bedrooms and a bath are available to visitors plus an enclosed single car garage with a small work area.
The MS Ranch includes approximately 260 acres of flood irrigated and sub-irrigated hay meadow and pasture. Free water is diverted from both Ochoco Creek and Marks Creek. Three and a half miles of Ochoco Creek flows through the ranch meadows while a mile of Marks Creek cascades through a healthy stand of Ponderosa Pine trees. More than a mile of Salmon Creek contributes to Marks Creek seasonally.
